ElaN renews ISO 17100 quality standard for translation services
The Veritas auditing agency looked at the requirements that translation agencies must comply with on various levels: how we monitor translation projects, the transparency of our procedures, our quality assurance system, the competence of our translators and revisers, our interactions with customers and translators, etc. “We achieved a really great overall score of 98%,” says Patrick Simons, Resource Manager at ElaN Languages.
When you order a translation from ElaN Languages, you can rest assured: “Indeed, the ISO 17100 standard also includes several important guarantees. The customer knows that a native speaker will translate their texts and a second native speaker will revise that translation, if that service is requested,” Patrick explains. “We have everything in-house in terms of technology, including up-to-date translation memories and other resources, to guarantee the highest level of quality. Our project managers closely monitor every translation project, thus completing the picture. The Veritas auditing agency gave us another compliment for our Fast Track Service, which guarantees a three-hour turnaround time for short translations. The fact that we constantly adapt and update our internal systems was also very much appreciated.”
ISO standard for post-editing
In addition to the ISO 17100 standard for translation services, we now also hold the ISO 17587 certificate for post-editing after machine translation. Our Translation Department’s Team Lead Marjolein Liefsoens explains, “Post-editing means that our translators polish texts pretranslated by the translation machine into a reliable, easy-to-read text.
Post-editing is an interesting option for certain translation projects, such as those with a repetitive nature. In that case, the translation process is faster and less expensive.”
